Who SYCS is, where it comes from and who it works with.

What is SYCS?

SYCS — Superyacht Composite Solutions is a high-tech boutique supplier specialising in full-carbon composite solutions, bespoke furniture and custom tenders for the global superyacht market.

Is SYCS part of BYD Group?

Yes. SYCS is part of BYD Group — Bravo Yacht Design Group — and benefits from its expertise in naval architecture, structural engineering, yacht design, project management and advanced 3D technologies.

Who does SYCS work with?

SYCS works with yacht owners and their representatives, captains, project managers, yacht managers and international shipyards on both new-build and refit projects.

Who founded SYCS?

SYCS was co-founded by Tià Simó and Raúl Gonzalo, who bring more than 50 years of combined experience in yacht design, naval architecture, engineering, new construction and refit.

Where is SYCS based?

SYCS operates from Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, two of the Mediterranean's most important superyacht hubs. Its Palma base also includes two dedicated workshops.

What services does SYCS provide?

SYCS provides integrated design, naval architecture, engineering, composite manufacturing, bespoke furniture production, tender development and onboard installation services.

Can SYCS manage an entire project?

Yes. SYCS can manage the complete process, from initial concept and engineering through production, installation and onboard integration.

Does SYCS work with third-party designs?

Yes. SYCS can engineer, manufacture and install solutions based on designs and briefs created by external studios, shipyards or project teams.

Does SYCS work on both refits and new builds?

Yes. SYCS supports both refit and new-build projects across motor yachts and sailing yachts.

Can SYCS provide onboard installation?

Yes. SYCS can follow the project through to installation and integration onboard, ensuring consistency between design, engineering, production and the final result.

03 — Technology & production

In-house capability, workshops and machinery.

Which capabilities are available in-house?

SYCS keeps its core design, engineering and technical capabilities in-house. These include naval architecture, structural engineering, exterior and interior design, 3D modelling, 2D drafting, laser scanning and 3D printing.

What production technology does SYCS use?

The Palma workshops include multi-axis CNC machinery, CNC lathes, three-axis CNC equipment, plotters for fabrics and gaskets, laser-scanning systems, 3D printers and equipment for laser engraving and acrylic production.

Can SYCS produce prototypes or small production runs?

Yes. Its in-house technology and flexible production structure allow SYCS to support rapid prototyping, one-off custom pieces and small-scale production runs.

Can SYCS handle large or complex projects?

Yes. SYCS combines its internal capabilities with a trusted network of specialist suppliers for larger components, including CNC moulding and metal fabrication.

What SYCS builds, and how far customisation goes.

What kind of composite products does SYCS manufacture?

SYCS manufactures hardtops, biminis, deck accessories, structural elements, interior and exterior furniture, carbon-fibre tables, jacuzzis, structural cradles, spreader bars, deck extensions and transom extensions.

Does SYCS specialise in carbon fibre?

Yes. Full-carbon construction is one of SYCS's core specialisations, combining lightweight technology, structural precision and refined design.

Are SYCS products fully customised?

Yes. Every product is developed around the yacht, its technical requirements and the client's brief. Dimensions, engineering, materials, finishes and design details can all be customised.

Can natural materials be combined with composites?

Yes. SYCS often combines natural materials with lightweight, high-tech composites such as carbon fibre.

05 — Tenders

The SYCS Tender Division.

Does SYCS design and build custom superyacht tenders?

Yes. The SYCS Tender Division develops fully customised tenders around the requirements of the mothership, the owner and the intended use of the vessel.

What makes an SYCS tender different?

SYCS combines the performance and efficiency of production and patrol boats with the finish, comfort, customisation and design standards expected in the superyacht market.

Are SYCS tenders built in composite materials?

Yes. SYCS tenders use lightweight composite construction to support performance, seaworthiness, efficiency and reduced maintenance.

Can each tender be customised?

Yes. Layout, dimensions, performance, finishes, onboard technology and design details can all be developed around the individual project.

How many tenders has SYCS delivered?

The Tender Division has completed 13 projects, with 21 units currently on the water: 10 private tenders and 11 patrol boats.

How much experience does SYCS have?

Through SYCS and BYD Group, the team has delivered more than 140 new-build boat projects and over 230 refit projects, with 10 superyacht commissions currently underway.

What types of projects has SYCS completed?

SYCS's experience ranges from bespoke furniture and individual carbon components to jacuzzis, full exterior furniture packages, deck extensions and major transom modifications.

Has SYCS worked on large superyachts?

Yes. Its landmark projects include work aboard yachts such as M/Y Arrow, M/Y Q, M/Y Nora and M/Y Amoa.

At what stage should SYCS become involved?

SYCS can become involved from the earliest concept and feasibility stage or join an existing project to provide engineering, production, installation or specialist composite support.
